This is a large and bustling market where you can find a real local atmosphere with a variety of produce from the lake.

Situated 30km south of Taunggyi, capital of the Shan State, Inle Lake and its surroundings are famed for their scenic beauty and cool, refreshing climate. Idyllically set between mountains at an elevation of nearly 1000 metres above sea level, the tranquil 230 sq km lake is dotted with floating islands that support villages and bustling colourful markets.

About a 45km drive from Kalaw is Pindaya, well known for its extensive limestone caves. The caves are set deep in the hillsides and at the entrance stands a 15 metre high Shwe U Min Pagoda. There are some 6000 Buddha images and interesting stalagmites to see throughout the caves.
